About the event

Sanctuary  noun, plural sanc·tu·ar·ies. a sacred or holy place. an especially holy place in a temple or church. a church or other sacred place where fugitives were formerly entitled to immunity from arrest. immunity afforded by refuge in such a place. any place of refuge; asylum.

Sanctuary  retreat. a sacred space for women to gather and reclaim the ancient practices of the women who walked before us.

Our Sanctuary retreats are artfully and mindfully curated by Cat Hindson and Molly Anne Chinner to follow the cycle of the seasons. We invite you to immerse yourself into a cyclical way of living and ~being~ when you retreat with us at our refuge in the heart of the Peak District.

Each retreat gathers a supportive circle of women for a week full of soulful movement, vibrational sound, and ancient ceremony to reclaim your wild and authentic Self. This is an opportunity to slow down and tune into the natural world around you; to connect with yourself and with other amazing women.

Sanctuary: Awaken The Wild is our Spring creation to support you in tuning into what your heart needs right now as we turn into winter. Cat and Molly will be facilitating a collection of beautiful practices over the week including: fire ceremony, women’s circles, breathwork, cold water swimming, elemental flow into nidra, yin yoga, cacao ceremony, shamanic healing, crystal bowls and gong.

Our practices will go deep but the pace of our week will be gentle, and supportive. Taking the time to appreciate the fresh Spring mornings over enlivening mugs herbal tea, morning cold swims in the river and beautiful views from the top of some of England's most breathtaking peaks. Are you feeling the call to join us?

THE VENUE

Our home for the week is a rustic and contemporary old cattle shed conversion situated in the heart of the Peak District National Park. The house has 11 beautifully appointed ensuite rooms and an open-plan lounge dining room with spectacular views across the Hope Valley. It is the perfect setting to switch off and unwind. Spend your time here relaxing in front of the wood-burning fire, gathering at the magnificent dining table for delicious meals together, wake up to fresh coffee and sunrise on the large south-facing terrace, and stargaze around the fire pit as the nights draw in.

FOOD

We are thrilled to be collaborating once again with the amazing Jeni England to feed us on retreat. All meals are included in the cost of retreat and please know that we take food very seriously – you will be well fed! We can of course cater to any dietary requirements, please let us know of any when you book. Jeni will be bringing us a fully plant-based menu packed full of seasonal and delicious veggies, grains, and pulses. Expect abundant, nourishing plant-based feasts for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners made from scratch using sustainable and local ingredients.

PRACTICES

Sanctuary offers a wide selection of practices for a completely immersive retreat experience. We work with a fluid schedule that caters to the energy of the group. Our mornings usually begin with an (optional) cold water swim followed by vinyasa yoga into yoga nidra. Our late afternoon practice tends to be restorative/yin. Our evenings together are a chance to dive deep into the magick of cacao, sound, circles, and ceremony. Whilst we understand it’s your time and your body, we wholeheartedly encourage full participation in the practices over the week. To give you an idea of what to expect, here is a guide to the practices which Cat and Molly will be facilitating.
